I love Odd

I am not a movie critic nor should I ever be one because I like everything. Even bad movies because they give me a good laugh. I like to watch movies that people say are bad, just to see HOW bad they are. Does that make sense? Probably not, just wasting my time but I’m not complaining. But then I come across a gem of a movie that is so underrated that it makes me mad. That’s where Odd Thomas comes in. An ex of mine recommended this movie after he accidentally stumbled upon it while scrolling through Netflix(it’s still there) and demanded that I watch it. At first I refused to watch it because I’m a stubborn female who hates anyone telling me that I HAVE to do something. But one day when I finished my favorite past-time, binge watching several seasons of a TV show, I found I had nothing to watch. I watched Odd Thomas and nothing was the same.

Odd Thomas is a cook at a dinner who has the power to see ghosts and these little demons he calls Bodachs. These demons basically follows evil around, giving Odd a warning when something bad is going to go down. Now the ghost appear to Odd when he has to figure out their deaths which is hard because the dead can’t speak. But Odd is a very smart guy who has such a charm about him as he narrates the entire movie. In the movie, he sees a rather large uprising of Bodachs in the area, like dozens at a time. Then Odd has a vision of a massacre getting ready to go down and spends the entire movie on figuring out whose the person in charge of it, where it’s going down, and how to stop it. Luckily he has the help of Police Chief  Wyatt Porter who knows about Odd’s powers and finds a way to cover up for his actions. If that’s not true friendship, I don’t know what is.

On to my favorite character, Stormy Llewellyn, Odd’s girlfriend who happens to be destined to be with him forever, as told by a mechanical fortune teller when they were younger. Their relationship is full of sarcastic remarks but in such a loving way. I love who I am as a person but I’ve never wanted to be someone so bad. Shes a manager at a popular ice cream shop in the mall but has this kick-ass apartment. She’s sassy and always has her man’s back. They should be the definition of relationship goals. Stormy actually helps Odd along the way, trying to figure out whose in charge of all these bad events going around.

If you’re a female like myself who seriously get attached to the story lines and characters, then there’s going to be a lot of emotions flowing in this suspense, fantasy, and I want to say a bit of comedy movie. The story is amazing, the actors (mainly Anton Yelchin and Addison Timlin) were great, the dialogue was perfect and the combination of it all just speaks to me in a way that makes me want to watch this movie  50 more times. Anton was the perfect Odd Thomas. I just found out that Odd Thomas is a book series with seven books, that I have to start reading pronto. The author Dean Koontz said that he wanted Anton yelchin to play Odd otherwise the movie wouldn’t reach its full potential. God Bless that man because it was the perfect choice.

If you have never seen the movie, go watch it on Netflix and let me know what you think. I thought it was such a great movie that has everything I love. Romance, Humor, action, and Ghosts. If you have any movies you would like to recommend, please let me know and I’ll try to review it. Obviously not an expert, but I have a hell of an opinion.
